The Lake Center Yoga Story

Lake Center Yoga began 50 years ago with both Sri Ekan and Nirgunavathi experiencing their first yoga class in college. The studio was born in 1998. Lake Center Yoga has withstood the test of time and is now the oldest yoga studio in Central Florida!

Sri Ekan began teaching at one of the top massage schools in the country at the time called The Reese Institute of Massage Therapy. He taught there for seven years and then began looking for his own yoga studio. After six months of searching for the perfect location with no luck, Sri Ekan was attending a Siddha Yoga Teacher Training with renowned Yoga Master John Friend and Meditation Guru Swami Chidvilasananda (Gurumayi) at the Sri Muktananda Siddha Yoga Ashram in upstate New York.

During the first day of the training, a realtor found our perfect location overlooking beautiful Lake Fairy in Longwood, Florida. It was a very synchronistic moment seemingly brought to us by the Divine.

Since then we have had thousands of yoga students, as well as teacher trainings, vegan cooking classes, astrology classes, chakra & special healing classes., and more special weekend events.

Lake Center Yoga has simplified from having more teachers and classes to now fewer, more personalized classes with Sri Ekan and his wife Nirgunavathi Ananda teaching.

This helps us cultivate a beautiful community with our students. With our vast yoga and meditation experience, we specialize in and enjoy working with true seekers of traditional body, mind, and spirit yoga practice as well as the more committed student who is interested not only in the physical body but also evolving their consciousness and lifestyle.
