Yoga 101 Class
We review the alignment principles of Week 1, the foundations of the four mounts of the hands and feet and the breath as the essence of action. Week 2 is learning Muscular Energy that creates stability, strength and physical integration in a pose and Organic Energy that is the extension in a pose that creates length and breadth, opening in the body and freedom of the energy of expansion. The balanced action of Muscular and Organic Energy gives an optimal flow of spirit and energy in the pose and optimizes the circulation of blood, lymph, oxygen and prana as well as reduces the possibility of physical injury which occurs when one part of the body is overworking or overstretching, while another part is underworking. Balanced action prevents the over-efforting that creates restricted blood supply and oxygen and the over relaxing that creates hypermobility or hyperflexibilty.

Ongoing Beginning Yoga, Ongoing Experienced Yoga Classes, and Slow & Glow Classes
Infuse your practice with a spirit of surrender via Yoga Sutra 3.6 to invoke deep stillness with a slow deep practice of standing poses and seated hip openers. The pace is steady, holding the poses to create a deep opening in the hips resulting in a lengthening of the spine, a quieting of the mind and a newfound depth of Being. Yoga Sutra 3.6 says, “Yoga’s practice is to be accomplished in stages. No one can expect success or mastery without regular practice. One should not jump to higher stages of practice without first establishing a firm foundation through the primary steps of yoga. If each stage is followed in turn, one becomes acquainted with them by degrees and full insight.” In this way we can fully enjoy depth of the practice at each stage we are in.
