Patanjali Yoga Sutra 3.3
TADEVᾹRTHA MᾹTRA NIRBHᾹSAṂ SVARŪPA ŚŪNYAM IVA SAMᾹDHIH

Centering
Sit upright with minimal effort. Open hearted. Open minded. Tap into your breath, not rushing it, not forcing it, just slow it down and see if you can take your attention from having to breathe to the act of being breathed. The act of letting the air enter you and leave you and it will find its own natural flow in and out. Cleansing breath; hold at the top expend into the lung space, part your lips and exhale. 2 more. Relax into the breath. After concentration is developed you are able to concentrate without losing concentration. That is meditation. But we go back and forth. When you’re able to keep the concentration it is meditation. then there’s samadhi. whatever you’re focusing on you see from the observer. whatever you are focusing on disappears and the observer […]

Stabilize some Sweet Samadhi (The 8th Limb of Yoga) in your soul at 7:15pm Friday Night Meditation Classes with Sri Ekan followed by a sweet treat to take you even Higher!

“By mastering asanas and mudras, bring body, senses and mind under your control.
Through control of your mind and prana, all chakras are purified.
When these open, perfection in yoga is not far away.

When the sahasrara (crown chakra) stands revealed,
currents of nectar flow ceaselessly.
You attain the inner Witness, the Self.
You drown in an ocean of bliss,
your own true nature.” (Samadhi)

Join us in class this week and integrate Yoga Sutra 3.3 on Samadhi, the 8th Limb of Yoga, into your asana and meditation practices. At it’s highest level Samadhi intoxicates us with the divine vision of the omnipresence of God.

There is an expression, “The difference between an ordeal and an adventure is perspective.” Often in life things feel like they are big, they’re heavy, there’s a lot going on and if you just flip your perspective somehow it seems a lot more accessible, like you can handle it, you can overcome it, and hopefully have fun while your doing it.

When one is in the state of Samadhi, absorbed in ones True state of innate joy, everything is experienced as an adventure rather than an ordeal. Samadhi is the greatest adventure!

Our intention through our classes this week is for you to drop into the state of Samadhi and carry that adventure […]

Master The Outgoing Senses and The Mind Is Mastered

Patanjali Yoga Sutra 2.55

TATAḤ PARAMᾹ VASYATENDRIYᾹṆᾹṀ

“Pratyahara results in the absolute control of the sense organs. The effect of pratyahara is felt when the senses are mastered, and the mind is ripe and avid for its spiritual quest. When the senses have ceased to run after endless pleasures obtained from the phenomenal world, they can be yoked to serve the soul.” B.K. S. Iyengar

Pratyahara is shifting attention from the outer world to the inside. We try to shift counter productive habits from the outer world, the senses, rather than the inside. Unless it comes from the inside, the change won’t stick. Withdrawing the senses brings us to our peace, our Truth, and from there what isn’t beneficial falls away. There is a dissolving into ecstasy.

Translation:

tatah = then, thereby, thence, from that
parama = highest, supreme, ultimate, perfected
vashyata = mastery, control, being willed
indriyanam = of the mental organs of actions and senses

Create An Inner Environment of Balance and Happiness

By | 2015-10-12T16:54:39+00:00 September 11th, 2015|anxiety relief, Classes, Inspirational, lower blood pressure, Meditation, stress|

Come to 7:15pm Friday Night Meditation Class and create an INNER ENVIRONMENT where the world reflects back your inner BALANCE instead of your inner IMBALANCE.

A constantly chattering mind will not allow any balance, any possibility of TRUE happiness because only a silent mind will be balanced enough to distinguish passing pleasure from true happiness. Only a silent mind can hear the silence, the happiness that is always bubbling there. It is so subtle that with the noise of the mind you cannot hear it. The outside can only be a mirror. When happiness flowing from within is reflected FROM the outside, with the outside functioning as a mirror, it is called pleasure and is impermanent.

When we live in a state of imbalance, more attention on the material world for happiness, we just exist in the endless, temporary and ultimately ending pleasures which leave us depressed because they are gone or […]

Turn Within

By | 2015-10-12T17:09:21+00:00 September 6th, 2015|anxiety relief, Asana, Inspirational, lower blood pressure, Meditation, stress, Yoga|

Join us for 7:15pm Friday Night Meditation Class and take a mini vacation by turning away from the trappings of the material world and connecting to the the source of energy within you. It will renew you and lead you to calm focus. In this way you can connect with your inner compass (by whatever name you call it) as your guide making you more likely to discover connections at the right time and be in the ideal place!

Just admit: My life is not in my hands.
It is in God’s hands.
Offer yourself up.
Live on God’s plate.
Climb into God’s soup bowl.
Be willing to be even a single lentil seed in the Lord’s minestrone pot.
Like this, become God’s Prasad.
Don’t know how.
Just say ‘Yes’ and let him take you inside.
