Join us in one or more of these classes this week at LCY and embody the Essence of Yoga in your life!

The Yoga 101 Class this week focuses on the Inner and Outer Spiral of the legs to protect the low back, the hips and knees. The lower body roots and the spine rises for more efficient performance of the entire nervous system. On a subtle level this creates an open channel for energy to pass through the seven Chakras or energy centers from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Theme: Realize and imbibe what raises your life energy!

The Ongoing Beginner and Ongoing Experienced Yoga Class theme is Yoga Sutra 3.1 Dharana, auspicious focus. In our practice we’ll filter attention for equanimous focus through the entire body. Quality of attention is as important as y quality of movement. We’ll incorporate that into full body awareness and focus as we unwind tension in the hamstrings, outer hips, quadraceps and hip flexors in a wide range of postures. We’ll also do core strengthening work to help stabalize the motion of your lower back which sometimes compensates for restriction in the hips. We’ll use all of this to take enjoyable steps making headway towards the challenging key poses of splits (Hanumanasana) and Lotus poses.

The Friday Night Meditation Class will be a guided retreat via introduction of a class theme to help withdraw the outgoing senses (Pratyahara) followed by the yogic practices of call and respond mantra (Kirtan) to reduce the inner chatter and infuse focus (Dharana), opening the channels of life force via Pranayama (Breathing practices), seated floor poses (Asana) to prepare the body to meditate, and Meditation (Dhyana) resulting in Bliss, (Samadhi).

The Saturday Yin Yoga Class this week will be taught by LCY student and yoga teacher Lisa Starr! This class will target the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones and even the joints of the body that normally are not worked much in a more active asana practice. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Unwind and settle your body.

The Sunday Morning Slow & Glow Class with Melissa will establish you in your full Radiance!

Wishing you heath and Well Being~
